survive

In his defence, he’d never actually had the chance to spend much time in the woods. Sure, he’d been there once or twice when he was a kid, probably, but it had been ages since he’d even seen a proper tree. So, despite him being in a downright lousy shape, bruised and tired and generally exhausted, he still grinned at the fact that he’d landed near a forest-like area. And he was somewhat glad he’d gotten rid of his armour, seeing as walking just tired him more. He could go back and get all of it again whenever he wanted, too.

Or at least almost all of it. He’d kept his boots, troopers in full-body armour usually didn’t have any emergency shoes or something with them. So, as he walked through the woods, his footsteps were terribly loud, but at leas this feet were protected.

Steven had just been thinking about how exactly he’d try to memorize some paths and structures of that place when he heard movement rather close to him. The leaves rustled on the ground and it sounded like some animal was running, followed by a noise that didn’t really resemble any animal he’d ever heard. Not a good sign, obviously. The blonde made a quick step aside and behind a tree, right hand reaching down to pull his pistol and hold it to his chest. Considering the fact that he’d literally had no idea just what had caused that noise, hearing a seemingly human voice was quite the relief. He lowered his weapon and peeked his head out a little, spying the ‘armed’ woman in not to far a distance. “…could you uh.. not point that at me?,” he somewhat quietly shouted over to her. “I’ll come out if you lower it!“

Hearing a human voice a few metres away, Ellie could feel her pulse quicken slightly. You could never trust anyone, even if they did seem harmless. She remembered David; how he reassured her that there was nothing to be afraid of, yet he locked her away and almost killed her. However, she endured and survived, and that’s how she’d been living her life for a long time.

“What d’ya think I am, twelve? I ain’t puttin’ nothin’ down.” She told him, keeping her voice quiet but loud enough so he could hear it. She wasn’t going to risk attracting infected with anymore sound.  Ellie wouldn’t lower her weapon; not to a complete stranger who could be armed anyway. Who wasn’t armed these days? Someone stupid, that’s who.

Green eyes continued to scan the area infront of her, feeling uneasy that she still couldn’t spot him. What if there were more? Luckily, Ellie had grown to know Jackson County like the back of her hand. If he was a threat, she’d try her damn hardest to get out and warn the rest back home.

Taking a small step forward, Ellie kept a firm grip on the drawn bow and arrow. ”That’s not how it’s gonna’ work, bud. You come out; I won’t shoot unless ya’ try an’ be an asshat.” She finally reasoned, hoping that he might appear.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....

He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
