“You- what? Even a child knows that.” Again, he merely shook his head. Everybody knew them, the crazy helljumpers. Wherever they dropped, shit was going down. And he’d expected to land somewhere where exactly that would be the case. Instead, he was having this useless conversation with a stranger. “…we’re.. highly trained and skilled soldiers. Infiltrators, mostly.”
So… according to her, this was Earth, hm? Didn’t.. look like how he remember it to look. Much less ‘modern’ in a way and nobody on his homeplanet used a bow and arrow or even went hunting. It just didn’t fit together. He didn’t know where he was, but it was most definitely not his Earth. “..this.. is bad.. this is really bad..,” he mumbled quietly, placing a hand on his forehead. Yes, a comm tower was his utmost highest priority now.
Steven looked around for a while, tried to figure a plan or maybe find some high building he could get on top of to get a good look over where the hell he was. He needed to find something, just something that would help him out of this.
And then he noticed that he was actually, properly panicking. An ODST. A former damn Freelancer standing there confused and partly scared and just.. lost. How pathetic, pull yourself together! He shook his head a few times, then looked back at the other.
”..obviously I’m not.. from around here. I mean uh.. just look at my boots or my gun, that stuff doesn’t look familiar, does it?“ He pointed at his boots, then his holster, though didn’t draw his pistol. “I have no damn idea what I’m doing here but I’m not just going to.. run off into the blue with a half-empty pistol and a few throwing knives.”
To be fair, just clinging to her didn’t sound very appealing, either. And she wouldn’t let him, obviously. She looked tired of him already and that wasn’t a good sign. But he doubted she was alone or that she couldn’t at least somehow help him a little. And he had an idea how to repay her. “Okay, don’t shoot me, but I want to make a deal. How about I help you hunt down something to eat and you help me get somewhere safe or somewhere where I can find something to help me get around. I won’t chase off any animals, I’ll even take off these damn boots if I have to.“
Ellie may have not been able to understand half the things he was saying, but she knew emotion when she saw it. He seemed panicky, like a lot of people were these days; even her at times. With your life on the line, she’d find it hard to belief if someone didn’t feel scared in this world. It was pretty much a default feeling to her now.
"Yup, really bad. Welcome to the Apocalypse.” She sighed, glancing around for any signs of movement from afar. If they were going to stand here for too much longer, she wouldn’t be surprised if infected tracked them down due to how much noise they were making.
When he asked her if his boots and weapons looked farmiliar Ellie shook her head. No one she knew owned anything like that, and the only thing that came close to it was the sort of things the characters in her old comic books wore. To be honest, it was pretty neat gear. It definitely beat old, rusty knives for weapons.
When he offered her a deal, Ellie straightened up slightly, raising her brow a little. A little hesitant at first, Ellie didn’t know what to think. But after pondering for a few moments, she realized that it did sound fair, and maybe it would get him off her back.
“Alrigh’.” She finally agreed, before green eyes glanced around her surroundings once more. They would have to get going quickly, though. With the mid-summer heat, and it most likely not being far later than midday, the two wouldn’t have long to get both things done before it got dark. They had to get moving, quickly.
“Yer gonna help me first, though… And yeah, take off those damn boots.” She told him, smirking slyly to herself. He’d would scare off the whole wildlife population with those things. “C'mon, we ain’t got all day. We gotta’ catch something good.” With that, Ellie began to take a few steps back, keeping her eyes on him. She’d wait until he was next to her before she’d turn her back. This was still risky.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....
He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
