At least this wasn’t the worst situation the soldier had ever found himself in. But it was still admittedly shitty. Time to refresh his close quarters skills, he guessed. Since he had no idea what they might be going up against, he just assumed that what he had left as weapons wouldn’t be sufficient for a longer period of time.
The word ‘apocalypse’ did catch his attention for a second, the records of earth’s history had so far described the human covenant war as something apocalypse like, and that was pretty much the last time earth was the centre of humanity’s interest. Even the many colony’s were higher up on the worry-scale, he guessed. More conflicts, more war.
As she agreed to his offer, he let out a light sigh of relief. At least he wasn’t completely on his own. He gave a nod of thanks in her direction, then squatted down to work his boots off. He’d bee left running around in some kind of thick socks that would probably protect him for a while, though they’d wear down too quickly for his taste.
He threw what was left of his boots aside and got up again, jogging over to her and giving her another short nod. “Ready to go.“ Now that he was standing a little closer to her, he could also see that yes, she didn’t look all that neat and whatnot either, though it seemed like more of a permanent look for her..
”..hey, also, what’s your name?” He’d prefer to at least know what to call her if need be, plus policy urged him to get introductions done. It was and old habit, the need to know who he was accompanying.
Green eyes stayed on the blonde as he began to take off his boots. Every so often she’d glance around her surroundings, listening out for any low groans or clicking noises. There was no doubt that there were infected lurking around here, and she’d prefer to seek them out first before they spotted her.
When the male finally caught up to her, Ellie gave him a curt nod before turning slightly and began to walk. She was glad she didn’t decide to bring her jacket, leaving her in a light grey tank top. With the suns rays casting through the gaps inbetween the trees, it made the surroundings feels rather humid.
When he asked her what her name was, Ellie looked ahead, focusing more on trying to spot signs of wildlife rather than making small-talk. “ ’M Ellie.” She informed him briefly. “You?” Ellie asked, momentarily glancing up at the male. It was only fair if she knew his, and she may as well know his name if they were going to be ‘helping’ each other.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....
He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
