He’d only just managed to remove his weapon from the cadaver as he noticed Ellie growing a little more alarmed. His eyes flickered over to meet hers, a small frown forming on his face. That wasn’t a good look, that look right there meant trouble. And as she ordered him to move, he knew that it would some damn proper trouble.

Steven stumbled after her, quietly grumbling as she pulled him by his shirt and almost tripping over his own feet. Way too typical for him. He ended up landing on his rear as they’d reached a little hiding spot. “The fuck?,“ he whispered back somewhat harshly, shifting to get on his knees and peek through the plants that were giving them cover.

The low groans mixed with how these.. humans, he assumed, moved didn’t mean anything good. Those weren’t ordinary people, he could tell. But why they had to hide from them did remain a mystery to him.

He watched Ellie, soon noticing that she was drawing her gun and mimicking her action with his own pistol. They looked.. not even remotely similar, honestly. His looked more modern, a little more.. black, really. "…who are they?” He eventually asked, keeping his voice low.

Ellie was on full alert, green eyes following the slow movements of the hunched figures. From what she could see, there had to be around three; which wasn’t too bad. She’d dealt with many more Runners before, -along with Clickers- even if she wasn’t completely alone. However, Ellie knew that she could take them out, as long as the male behind her didn’t mess things up. If he was completely unaware what Clickers were, then she didnt have much hope with him knowing what these could do.

Her thoughts were answered when she heard those words from Steven. Rolling her eyes, the woman snapped her head over her shoulder, scowling at the male. This guy was fucking nuts. She wasn’t going to speak, because if she did, the foul words in her mind would attract those infected, and that was something she didn’t need.

Returning her gaze to the Runners, Ellie kept her pistol in her right hand, whilst she adjusted herself so she had her bow firmly grasped in the other. Getting up from her knees, but still keeping her back bent, Ellie peaked over the undergrowth before she silently creeped out from behind, making her way to the nearest infected.

Without hesitation, Ellie hooked the arrow over the bodies head, before she began to pull the bow against it’s neck. With enough force, it would eventually strangle it to death without the others noticing. After a few gurgles escaped the back of it’s throat, the Runner eventually went limp and Ellie let it drop to the floor.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....

He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
