He was pretty soon convinced to keep his mouth shut, that ‘death glare’ of hers making it clear that this was a ‘shut up and cease them’ situation. A light huff escaped him, barely audible, and he gave a reluctant nod. Seeing that she kept urging him to be so damn quiet, he assumed that shooting a gun wouldn’t do them any good. And even though his M6S was the most quiet handgun available to UNSC troops, he still wasn’t sure if it was quiet enough for their case. How convenient he still had his knives on him.
As she snuck out of their hiding spot, he carefully observed what she did, an eyebrow raising as he watched how she strangled one of the apparently three or four enemies out there. He’d take one out with a nice throw, maybe just slit the other’s throat and they’d probably be done.. it sounded like a decent enough plan to him.
He also crawled out of the undergrowth, his hand sliding to his thigh to pull out one of his knives as he began to sneak towards on of his targets. As he reached him, he immediately moved his forearm to cover the man’s mouth, the knife in his ending up stuck right in the middle of the enemy’s throat. The body went limb almost immediately and Steven carefully set it down on the ground, grimacing lightly as he saw his victim’s face.
No.. not very.. human..
The last enemy, unfortunately, had caught notice of him and Ellie and began to wildly charge towards the blonde. His eyes went went as he moved the arm whose hand was holding a pistol towards his attacker, aiming at his throat and giving one precise shot before he fell to the ground, twitching once before going limb. The shot had made some noise, but he didn’t think that out would really be loud enough to attract the attention of anybody not directly within their line of sight.
The next few moments were a blur in her eyes. Green orbes caught a flash of blonde hair, followed by a spray of crimson liquid. Hearing a thud on the uneven ground beneath, Ellie glanced up, noticing the last Runner sprinting towards the pair of them. Backng up slightly, Ellie raised the hand that held her pistol, aiming at the moving body. Before she could even pull the trigger, a gun went off; and it wasn’t hers.
The last thud was followed by silence. Her breathing slightly shallow, Ellie tried to catch her breath, her gaze turning to the blonde male beside her. “Those are Runners.” She exhaled, answering his question from earlier on. “An’ ya’ better be as sure as hell they didn’t bite ya’.” She informed him. Perhaps the male, like her, was immune, but the vast majority of the population were not as lucky as Ellie, so she thought it would be wise to let him know.
Putting the pistol in her back pocket, the woman then wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, making her way back to the fallen deer.
Kneeling beside the animal, Ellie began to pull out the bloody arrow from it’s neck with slight force. Once it was out, the woman wiped the arrow head on her shirt before sliding it into her quiver. Slinging the quiver and bow back over her shoulder, she then stood up.“This is gonna’ taste awesome.” She murmured, a satisfied look on her features.
A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....
He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
