He momentarily turned towards Ellie, giving her a small nod before squatting down to remove his his knife from the corpse’s throat, quickly wiping it clean on his trousers and then putting it back in its small sheath. His gun, however, he kept in his hands. Safety purposes. They might have defeated these three but who knew if there were any more around?

Standing straight again, he frowned lightly at her words, though did his best to try and memorize them. “Runners… Are they.. like, zombies or something..?“ He blinked a few times at the dead.. Runners, his head tilting lightly. Shit, what had he gotten himself in this time?

Only as Ellie put her pistol away did he do the same, though kept it loosely in its holster to have it accessable whenever need be. He then trotted over to the other, looking down at the dead animal. Their bounty. And, in comparison, a rather easy one. Or at least it seemed that way for his standards.

"Okay… let’s uh.. get this thing somewhere safer, then.” Wherever that would be, it was still better than out in the open and especially in the woods, where they would be visible but maybe couldn’t see their attackers behind trees or whatever they’d use as hiding spots.

When the male mentioned zombies, Ellie knotted her brow. “Zom-? No, infected. It’s a fungal infection.” She stated clearly, keeping her eyes on the deer as she tried to work out how she was going to get it back to Tommy’s. “So if ya’ gotta’ open wound, cuts or some shit, just make sure ya’ get it patched up.” She warned as she had noticed he didn’t look in the best of shapes before.

Slipping one of her backpack straps off her shoulder, Ellie unzipped the bag, pulling out a large rope so she could drag the deer back to the power plant. Tommy’s place was the only destination she could take it to, she couldn’t go anywhere else with precious meat like that. However, taking the deer back to Tommy’s would mean having to bring that mess back with her. The guy could shoot, though; and he wasn’t too bad with a knife, either. He helped her, but the others back at the power plant didn’t know that.

Unraveling the roper, Ellie bent down before she began to wrap the rope around the deers neck. Luckily they weren’t too far away from the plant, otherwise taking this back without a horse would have been an even bigger task.

After the rope was securely tied, Ellie exhaled heavily before standing up once more, her eyes on Steven. “If I take ya’ somewhere, will ya’ promise that you’ll stay there ‘till ya’ get yer bearings then leave?” She asked, one hand traveling to her back trouser pocket where her pistol was. It was the only way, and he did help her previously.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....

He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
