“…oh. Okay.” Oh shit, hopefully not something similar to the Flood. Though that would make the whole situation a little more understandable. A civilisation that had formed on a planet infested by Flood wouldn’t know much about UNSC technology and the like. The fact that they struggled through longer than maybe a year, though, that seemed pretty damn impressive to him. “Sure, I’ll check later for any wounds.“

Steven quietly watched her, now and then quickly looking around and making sure they were alone. She obviously knew what she was doing, so if he’d just managed to stick to her for a while longer, he might just have a higher chance of getting out of this whole mess alive and.. well, in one piece.

As she stood up again, immediately looking at him, he could tell right away that whatever she was about to say wasn’t exactly the most pleasant thing for her. But as he actually heard what she’d meant to say, he was admittedly surprised. And he almost felt.. offended.

Obviously it was a good offer, probably the best he could hope for from her at the moment anyway. It wasn’t exactly what he was used to, though. Just give him his share and then push him out onto a world he knew next to nothing about. His gun would run out of bullets, he wouldn’t find any ammo anywhere because they obviously didn’t have the same weapons he uses anywhere around, and his knives would break or go dull or just run out because he couldn’t always get them back. He’d be dead in.. let’s say maybe two months, at best.

But it was still the best offer he could ask for, he supposed. He glanced down for a moment, then gave a light nod. ”..yeah, sure. Popping in, popping out. No problem.“

When he agreed to her proposal, Ellie gave the male a curt nod; a small sigh escaping her lips before she bent over to pick up the strong, braided rope. She was going to have throbbing blisters in the morning after this, but it was something she was going to have to cope with if she was going to get this back to Tommy’s.

"Dude, ya’ gonna’ help?” She questioned, holding out one of the ends of rope for Steven to take from her.

It was the best thing she could offer thim right now- somewhere safe for a while. He did stick to his half of the deal, though; helping her catch some game. Also, to her surprise, the male jumped in and took down some of the Runners, which Ellie didn’t think he’d do. He could have taken her out with her back to him, dragged the meat away and had it for himself. He didn’t, though, and it made Ellie wonder if maybe he really wasn’t a threat. Maybe he was genuinely lost with limited ammo and no one else around to help him. However, David still came to mind. Fucking, repulsive David. He helped her, too, but then took her away and tried to end her life. Past events like those were set in stone in the back of her mind, and that was why the sooner she got back to Tommy’s the better.

As she began to haul back the carcass, Ellie didn’t speak a word to begin with. The only sounds were their soft footsteps against the uneven terrain, and the deer being dragged across the ground. Hopefully they’d get this back without any other interuptions from bandits and infected alike.

“Ya’ got pretty lucky back there for someone who didn’t know what infected were.” She stated, keeping her eyes on the ground. Even if he didn’t seem like he was from around here, Ellie still couldn’t get her head around how someone didn’t know what infected where. This girl had practically grown up with them as a threat. She didn’t know any better.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....

He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
