survive

His thoughts had drifted off rather quickly, going through little plans on how to find his way around this place, how to maybe try and build up something like an amateur comm tower or something. Anything that might help him send a distress call. He doubted he had the skill to build up anything useful, but it would be worth a stab.

As she spoke up again, he blinked a few times, looking at the rope she was holding out to him and then back at her before reaching for it. “Ugh, sure. Yeah.“ He nodded a few times, then moved the rope over his shoulder and began to walk as soon as she did.

They didn’t exactly talk for a while, so Steven merely.. looked around. It was still weird. Still utterly unfamiliar. But kind of.. almost prettier than a spaceship. That bit figured, mind you. Metal and plastic couldn’t compete with actual, real trees and bushes, especially when it’s been easily seven years since he’d last set a foot on any planet without having some kind of mission to get done.

Only as she decided to speak again did his gaze shift to look at her. A light smirk tugged on the corners of his lips. “Not really lucky, I just know how to kill things, I guess.” He gave a light huff, looking to the ground again. “Been a soldier for about seven years now, I’d be kind of disappointed if I couldn’t handle two uh.. Runners. They don’t seem half as bad. Compared to what I usually have to deal with, that is.“ And that were huge, twice the size of him Covenant. Yeah, Runners really didn’t seem all that much of a bother in comparison to those beasts.. “You’re pretty good at uh… coping on your own, though."

A soldier for seven years? Ellie pondered as to whether he was a guard from one of the quarantine zones back in the cities. No, that couldn’t be right; everyone knew what the infected were. He was a different kind of soldier.

"An’ what is it that ya’ usually deal with, hmm?” She questioned, green eyes glancing to his side briefly. She was curious, wanting to try and figure out as much as she could about this man before she got back to the power plant. Once they got back there, well, the males fate was in Tommy’s hands; not hers.

“Ya’ bet they ain’t half as bad. Beats Clickers or Bloaters, they’re fuckin’ creepy.” That Clicking noise could give you nightmares for weeks, and Bloaters were just vile. Ellie would prefer to put up with a group of Runners than a few Clickers any day.

Ellie frowned at his next statement, a small smile twitching at the corners of her lips at the way he was acting. “Pffft, I guess i’m used to it. Grown up in this world n'all.” She commented with a small shrug. She did, however, prefer the company of those she knew. As she got older being alone was was fine if there was no threat, but having company was always good and wise to have in a world like this.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....

He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
