He imagined finding books and comics was just as difficult for her as it had been for him when he’d been a little boy, if not harder. He’d moved.. often enough throughout his childhood and when he finally got around getting a job, he had his accident and things went downhill from that point on.
“Well…,” he began, smirking lightly, “Would you rather they just ended?“ He carefully placed the comic book back on the ground, then decided that it would be best if he eventually checked for any serious injuries and the like on himself. His trousers were pretty much ripped, mostly, and his shirt kept together well enough to last for quite a while longer.
He’d started pulling back parts of his clothing to get a look at some of the bruises and small cuts as she spoke up again, causing his gaze to momentarily move in her direction. He returned a light smile, still partly having that ‘kicked puppy look’ flashing over his face. She was okay, really. Simply for not shooting him on first sight.
"Uh…” His shoulders slumped forward, legs drawing to his chest. “I’d need my helmet functioning and that’s pretty much the only electronic device that just keeps bitching at me.. plus building up a comm tower that could broadcast through various solar systems if not galaxies.. yeah, no..“ A hand came up, scratching the back of his head as he gave a light shrug. "…guess I’m stuck here..”
“No…" she began, leaning in slightly. ” Why’d I want ‘em t'end when there’s so much left t'explore?“ Ellie quirked a brow, picking up the comic from the floor as he left it there. Comics, books, music; they all helped her imagine what the world was like before the virus. She had no previous experience, so reading was one of the only source materials she had.
Whatever he just said to her, again, mostly went right over her head. She did pick up a few words though, such as 'solar systems’ and 'galaxies’. Man, he did remind her of the characters from ’Savage Starlight.’ Those comics were all about life in space.
When he finally added that he was stuck here, Ellie raised her brow. Man, she was fucked if she couldn’t get him to leave by tonight. She had made a promise; they had made a deal. They couldn’t break it.

"Dude, ya’ fucked.” She told him, glancing around briefly as if she could find something to help him send a signal back home. “I said i’d get ya’ out by tonight, that was part of the deal.” Annoyance reflected in her tone as she glanced back at him. This wasn’t how it was supposed to go.
A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....
He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
