survive

toofuckinglucky:

Being a bother or surviving? The decision wasn’t too hard, one would think, but Steven generally disliked the idea of bothering people in a willingly negative matter. Sure, he was clingy and all, but actually, properly bothering somebody was a no-go, hence his hesitation about actually trying to stay.. wherever he was.

As she mentioned the possibility of maybe talking to their leader herself, his face lightened up a little. He’d owe her one for that, he damn would, but it’d be far more than he could ask for, if also the best he could probably hope for. “I.. Uh.. Yeah sure.. I mean if.. you won’t get any trouble for dragging me in, that is.“ He smirked lightly, giving a somewhat uneasy chuckle.

"I’m good with electronics, or at least most kinds of them, if it’s any help?” Other than that, he’d gladly help with whatever he could. He’d do anything to help under any circumstances as it is, the fact that he’d be rewarded with safety only made him more motivated about it.

As she mentioned the whole space thing, he couldn’t help but feel a little nervous. He’d gone through fake identities, but he wasn’t sure if he could keep up a whole fake backstory for long. It’d be worth a try, he figured. “I’ll just.. Come up with something if I gotta, yeah. No space-y stuff, can do.“

But hell, serving in the UNSC for almost ten years had turned him into the most obedient and efficient kind of soldier. He followed orders absolutely precisely, he didn’t question authority and he learned his way around rather quickly. He’d be useful, he supposed. But that wasn’t exactly his to decide.

Ellie’s relationship with Tommy was stronger than the ones he shared with most surviors that resided in the small community. She was incredibely close with his brother, Joel; those two were a team, even after all those long, brutal years. To Ellie, the old man was like her father, and would always remain that way. Having that relationship with Joel meant that she also knew Tommy, along with Maria, better than most people. Even though she had never tried to pull this sort of stunt before, it was a risk she was willing to take. What was the worst that could happen, anyway?

Did possessing a knowledge of electronics help? To some extent, yes. Making sure the power was still running smoothly was vital if they were going to survive here. "Yup, but you’d ‘ave to talk t'someone else 'bout that. I ain’t know much when it comes to that sorta’ stuff."

Ellie gave the male a small nod in his direction, slightly relieved that he would come up with something to cover him if need be. Ellie still found it hard to believe what he was saying, there was no way in hell that anyone else would think he was telling the truth. Acting as 'normal’ as he possibly could would be his best bet right now.

"I’ll talk t'him after we’ve all eaten, it might be easier t'convince him if he’s in a better mood,” she stated, running her hand through the loose strands of hair that had escaped her ponytail. “I dunno’ how it’ll go, so you can rest up 'ere if ya’ need to.” If her attempts to convince them failed, then she would at least want Steven to leave well rested.

A half smile tugged at her lips as the male thanked her once more. Alright, maybe this wasn’t as bad as she thought....

He might not have been completely ‘through’ with this whole thing, but he did feel somewhat relieved that she’d try to...
