survive

☯ : Here, have a hug from my muse.

She thought they were goners. Damn, fucking goners. At one point with hunters left, right and center, Ellie truely believed that this was the end. That she was going to get her head blown to pieces without being able to say goodbye to anyone; not even Joel.

But somehow they managed to survive. The were breathing, but Ellie was covered in blood; not all of it her own. After being in headlocks, aimed and fired at, and running out of bricks, Ellie and Steven had still managed to help one another. They got each other out alive.

She was scared; still terrified that a hunter would appear and end their lives when they were so close to getting out of there. She may have been immune to the infected, but she was in no way immune to the real monsters in this world.

“Fuck you, chickenshit!” She pulled out her bloody switchblade with force after repeatedly stabbing the man in the stomach. A loud groan followed by a thud and the man was limp; seeping crimson slowly splaying out and around the now lifeless body. Bloody hands trembling, she dropped her switchblade onto the wooden flooring. She then curled her fists together, fingernails digging into her skin as she tried to catch her breath.

Finally she broke away from the body sprawled out in front of her, big green eyes flickering towards the tall blonde to her right. Like her, he was covered in blood, too. She searched her brain for something witty to say, but she was only burned with emotion.

She had nothing to say.

She rocked on the back of her heel, feeling slightly hesitant at first, her eyes still on him. As the tears threatened to spill, she moved, making her way over to him before she flung her arms around his neck.

She clung onto him, hands gripping onto his shirt as she buried her face against his shoulder; the scent of metallic crimson and gunpowder radiating off him.

He was so warm, and the young woman held on for just a little longer before letting go, green eyes glancing down on the floor as she took a step back.

Turning around, Ellie wiped her nose with the back of her sleeve, floorboards creaking as she collected her switchblade from the ground. With the soft sun rays casting through the window and lighting up the way, Ellie began to move towards it. “Let’s get the hell outta’ here.“ She muttered, before setting her hand on the bottom window frame and climbing out of it.
